3.5/5

The film sees the story of a retired hitman Vijay (Amitabh), who is settled in Paris but returns to India to do "one last job". Vijay, who is charismatic and flamboyant doesn't feel his age in the film. If on the one hand he creates a stir with his style, clothes and cool dude attitude, on the other he often gets into trouble because of his short temper. While everyone thinks that he’s mission to assassinate the ACP [Sonu Sood], an undisclosed truth forms the story.

Bbuddah all in all is Amitabh all the way. It is a film that was made for Bachchan fans by a Bachchan fan and truly it does stand. Though there’s not much to talk about the film’s story, it completely rests on the shoulder of Mr. Bachchan and god, did he pulled it away in a manner that he only knows. The film is an out and out masala flick with elements that one craves to see Big B in such an avatar.

The return of the angry young man is mixed with Big B getting the best lines to deliver, singing his own songs, wearing unusual outfits with two wrist watches, riding a Harley Davidson bike apart from bashing the baddies in his andaaz. Bachchan’s introduction is a feast for his fans as they will sure not resist clapping.

The film is not well crafted for sure. Multiple tracks in the film with Puri trying to dish out comedy doesn’t work at all. Unnecessary scenes in the film like scene in coffee shop, Raveena’s track won’t fit the cause. But it is Bachchan, who over shadows the loop-holes in the film as it was a clear case from director’s point of view that he intended to put Big B in the spot light.

Portions involving Bachchan are pulsating and his confrontations with the baddies are a treat to watch. The film takes an unexpected twist before the interval only to speed up in the second half, which is combined with Bachchan doing action sequences and his emotional re-union with Hema. At an age of 68, Bachchan is a darling to watch as this film proves it once again.

Vijay’s scenes with Prakash Raj are dealt very well by the maker. Puri narrates the story in a way that he is famous for down south. He’ not so great story with well tuned action sequences fit the bill. Fast paced edit, the stylized action scenes with Amol Rathod's cinematography makes Bbuddah a thorough entertainer. Although the songs aren’t extra-ordinary, they keep up the tempo of the film. Bachchan has sung four out of the five songs.

From acting point of view, Mast-Mast' girl Raveena Tandon hardly has a role that will impress. Hemaji as usual complemented Bachchan very well. Sonal Chauhan looks good and does act too. Sonu Sood as a cop is good as it gets. The actor is improving day by day with his earnest stints. Charmee Kaur surprises and is the case with Makrand Deshpande. Prakash Raj proves to Bollywood once again that why he’s such a potent force down south.

But it is Mr. Bachchan, Mr. Bachchan and Mr. Bachchan in Bbuddah- Hoga Terra Baap all the way from start to finish. He truly proves why he is baap when it comes to acting prowess. Take a bow sir!
